Duck Soup (1933)
Duck Soup
This is legitimately one of the funniest and greatest movies ever made. The Marx Brothers have always been one of my absolute very favorite groups of all time, and this movie has pretty much always been my favorite of theirs. I go back and forth between this and ‘Monkey Business’ as my favorite. It just never gets old to me, and it seems like each time I enjoy it more. The comedy, from the very beginning to the very end, is completely spot on, with lots of great line deliveries and physical humor. Some of the scenes are completely dedicated to getting laughs, rather than attributing to the plot. Sometimes that doesn’t work in comedies, but it does for all of the Marx Brothers stuff. It’s so random but it works so well. The acting is absolutely hilarious, as to be expected. The Marx Brothers deliver every time, from the song and dance to the complete random nonsense that makes you laugh out loud. It’s absolutely great. I’m definitely happy that I picked this movie to be my 900th all time review, and I’d recommend it to all comedy fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
