Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007)
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
I seemed to have found a sequel that surpassed the original. It’s still just as silly and corny as the first one, but not only did I enjoy it more, but I think it was better written, with more interesting characters. Story-wise, I loved how this one dives a little more deeply into the personal relationships between all the characters. It’s nothing super dramatic or anything, but I like seeing them clash while trying to work together. It’s a nice addition to an already fun plot. It’s still not the best movie ever made, but still a small step up from the first one. The introduction of the Silver Surfer was nice, and not as bad as I was anticipating. He had a slick design, with solid special effects. And then throw Galactus on top of that. That was pretty cool seeing him (or it?). I know it wasn’t a comic accurate design, but I liked it. The other characters were awesome as well, and though the dialogue was once again a bit on the cheesy side, the cast does a great job. They still show why they’re so perfectly cast. Overall, this movie was fun, and better than the first, though it was still a little cringey at times. I’d probably recommend it to most superhero fans.
