Hypnotic

• My first review of 2024! Unfortunately, it’s not a very favorable one. ‘Hypnotic’ was a total mess, and I was left feeling very confused. I felt like it tried very hard to be like ‘Inception’ or ‘Shutter Island’. One of those movies that tries to play with your mind, and you never know what’s real and what isn’t. This somewhat does a good job with that, but also a crappy job at the same time. Like I said, it was a mess that was very sloppy. Very little actually made sense. I can see where Robert Rodriguez was trying to go with it, but ultimately, it didn’t work. That being said, I did mildly enjoy this movie (for the most part). It keeps you on your toes and you’re constantly trying to figure out what’s going on and what will happen next. It kept my attention, but of course, it got very confusing and crammed too much into too little time. The characters didn’t help a lot, either. None of them were really great, and they only made it that much more complex. Of course, I love Ben Affleck, so I enjoyed seeing him, and I did like his character. Everyone else was just kind of drab. Overall, this movie doesn’t make much sense and isn’t well written, but it does provide some fun moments. It kept my attention, but the movie definitely fails in several departments.
