Sly (2023)
Sly
I was super excited to hear that this was coming out, seeing as Sly is my second favorite actor of all time. It was truly insightful to be able to learn about how Sly is connected to his characters, in mental and emotional ways. There’s a few things I already knew about, but the majority of it was very educational. The two big focuses character-wise were Rocky and Rambo. Both characters happen to be some of my favorite movie characters ever, so seeing the depth in writing them was awesome. Not just the characters, but the movie themselves. This documentary is nice because it’s not just a standard biopic or timeline of his life, but it picks apart his movies and how he’s connected to them. It was different and unique. I loved hearing from different friends and family of Sly, so you get multiple perspectives. I won’t mention specifically who was in it for spoilers, but there were some very notable people. That’s about all I can say because of how much information this documentary contained, so it’s one you just have to check out. My only complaint is how some of Sly’s movies were very overshadowed by Rocky and Rambo, so you don’t get to hear about them. But besides that, this is pretty much perfect. I’d highly recommend it to everyone. This documentary is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it on Netflix now!
