White Christmas (1954)
White Christmas
Definitely a classic, this is one I try to watch each Christmas season. It’s such a beautiful movie, and everything about it is stunning. Just to name a few things: the setting is great, the message is awesome and touching, the characters are memorable and funny, the music is spot on, and the choreography is next level. This movie does a great job of being focused on Christmas, as well as other things. It throws in a few different themes, not just a Christmas one. It also has a great romantical element as well. Each character helps bring the winter feel to life, especially since they’re in Vermont. Bing Crosby as Bob and Danny Kaye as Phil were perfectly cast. Danny Kaye is always hilarious, and he always does a fantastic job of providing a laugh, as well as showing his softer side. Bing also does the same thing, and though he’s not really the comic relief, he is still so important. The power duo of Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen is also fantastic. They bring so much joy and emotion to the movie, which is what helps make it so great. All of those four I just mentioned are also physically talented in the choreography department. More so with Danny and Vera-Ellen, who steal the spotlight in several scenes. I’d say the choreography in this movie is probably my favorite in any movie ever, only behind Singin’ in the Rain. It’s so fun to watch, and you come to appreciate the talent that each actor has. The music is also insanely good, as it’s beautiful and gorgeous, as well as energetic and mellow at the same time. This movie is really great to watch on a cold, winter day, with a cup of hot chocolate. It gives you such a warm feel. Overall, I’d highly recommend it to everyone, as it’s one of the best Christmas movies ever made. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
