The Bikeriders (2024)
The Bikeriders
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen anything cooler than Austin Butler and Tom Hardy on motorcycles. Biker movies are cool, but biker movies with those two are even better. The movie was made for them, and they were made for the movie. The suave, hardcore look and vibe they gave was just perfect. The entire cast was great, and their rugged styles were authentic and felt so realistic. Not only did Butler and Hardy shine, but throwing in Michael Shannon and Norman Reedus was also smart. Such a great ensemble for this kind of movie. The story was good, though there were some pros and cons. A big pro is the way it focused on relationships and personal issues, rather than just being a movie about gangs and beating people up. There are definitely some moments with violence that were fun. But, it’s all about the people, not the action. That was the biggest pro of the story. The biggest con, though, was how slow it felt. There were times where I didn’t feel like the movie was going anywhere. I think the way everything was structured felt a little out of place. It kind of dragged on. Maybe because of the way it bounced back and forth between previous events and Kathy’s interviews. That’s the only big complaint I have. Besides that, it’s a really intriguing movie that shows how the gang worked, and what they stood for. My final thought is this: I need another movie of Austin Butler with tats on a motorcycle. That’s all I ask. I’d recommend this to most drama/crime fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
