Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
Remember when I said A New Beginning was the worst FT13 movie? It turns out this one is. I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would, but looking at it from a critical standpoint, it was horrendous. At this point, I think the writers ran out of ideas, and used table scraps for the story. I think in some ways, it worked out well, but mostly, it was just bad. I can’t really say why, but if you’ve seen this, then hopefully you can understand why it was weird. These movies are actually decent at feeling realistic, but this one just makes it ridiculous. In the previous movie, Jason is basically a zombie, and it doesn’t actually feel super out there. But this one just makes it so unbelievable. In most ways, it just sucks. I know I’m being vague here, but I don’t wanna spoil anything. However, despite everything I just said, I enjoyed this for the most part. The kills were fun and Jason looks so freaking sweet. This movie probably has my favorite look of his (exterior wise). His face looks like a Spirit Halloween mask, so it wasn’t great. But his body was torn and shredded and looks AWESOME. I absolutely love his look. The rest of the characters sucked. Overall, this movie was dismal, with very poor writing, but a lot of it was still fun and cheesy. I’d only recommend it unless you really like corny horror movies.
