Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)
I have to say that I was very disappointed by this movie. Don’t get me wrong, I think it was wonderfully made, but I just couldn’t get into it. Usually, these types of movies are exactly my speed and preference, but to me, it just didn’t make a lot of sense. There were several parts of it that I did like, but as a whole, I just got bored and found it hard to pay attention to. But don’t let my personal opinion distract you from how good it is. I thought the story was awesome, as I love the aspect it takes on the past and present. Unfortunately, I could just never get into it. I also normally really like movies that deal with the making of a play or a film, which is exactly what this movie deals with. But, like I’ve repeatedly said, it was just a bit boring to me. I really enjoyed Michael Keaton’s performance. He definitely deserved his Academy Award nomination, as well as his Golden Globe win. I also really liked Edward Norton and Emma Stone. The score was fantastic, as it helps bring the plot to live, and it surrounds the characters in a special way. The music was so spot on and beautiful, especially in the flight scene. I loved the use of the strings, and the orchestral sound adds a good cinematic to the entire movie. The cinematography was also so spot on. There were some simple yet amazing shots, and a lot of it was breathtaking. The editing was also fantastic. I loved many of the transitions, and the way the movie was made to feel like one shot was fabulous. Overall, this was a fantastically made movie, though a lot of it bored me. I would recommend it to all drama fans, though it might not be for everyone. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
