Young Guns (1988)
Young Guns
Yeah, this isn’t a great movie, but it’s one of those ones that are so cheesy they’re amazing. I definitely didn’t have any expectations, but I was mildly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. There were definitely some parts that were just poorly acted and written, so that took a hit on my enjoyment. But besides that, this was entertaining. The story was pretty good, although I don’t know how historically accurate it is. I know there is some historical basis, like characters such as Billy the Kid. Even if it’s not accurate, I still liked it. There were plenty of awesome gun fights. It’s always fun to see a bunch of dudes shooting at each other. However, a lot of the action scenes were very weirdly shot, with some extremely out of place slow motion. It was wacky and very 1980’s. But they were still fun. The cast was pretty solid, with some familiar faces. Like I said earlier, the acting wasn’t the best, but I liked the characters. Emilio Estevez was funny as Billy the Kid, and I liked Charlie Sheen. Their band of cowboys was sweet. Overall, this movie was mediocre, although it provided some exciting moments and one liners. I’d probably recommend it to most western fans, especially if you like the cheesy 70s/80s ones.
