Breathe (2017)
Breathe
Andy “The 🐐” Serkis certainly did a knockout job directing this movie the way he did. I actually had no idea it was his handiwork until after I finished it, and then that’s when I realized why it was that good. I think one of my only complaints about the movie is the pacing. The first few minutes felt very rushed, which led to some confusion. However, after a little bit, it slows down and gives you a better understanding of the story and characters. My other complaint was that the aging of some of the characters looked a bit odd. It was good for Robin, but wasn’t done very well for Diana. But besides that, everything else was great. The story was well written, and I love how it’s based on a true story. Though it was a little sad and depressing, it was still inspiring and provided for some great feel-good moments. You’ll always be surprised by how one man’s journey can hit you with so much emotion. It can make you laugh and smile, as well as tear up from sadness. But that’s what makes it good. Plus, seeing home footage of the real Robin at the end of the movie really finishes the movie with a great feel. The cast also did an incredible job, especially Andrew Garfield. He puts so much effort into his role. I’d definitely say his performance was award-worthy. The last thing I’ll say is that the soundtrack is ridiculously good. Nitin Sawhney did a beautiful job with the score. In fact, there’s one track called “Garden Party” that was so good, I actually rewinded the movie just so I could hear it again and identify it. The whole thing is fantastic. Some of it is slow and romantical, where some of it is lively and full of swing. Gosh, it’s good. Anyways, this movie is awesome. It was very touching, and I’d highly recommend it to everyone. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
