Civil War (2024)
Civil War
I’m not kidding when I say this is gonna go down as one of the best movies of the 21st century. My mind was utterly blown upon watching this. It exceeded every single one of my expectations by miles. This next thought will sound confusing, but the movie was exactly what I expected, while still throwing so many surprising events at you. I was completely drawn in the entire time, and I can’t recall a single second where I got distracted for lost interest. That’s pretty rare for me. The writing was absolutely brilliant, as it was authentic, realistic, emotional, you name it. It had everything I wanted in it. It throws you right into the war, without giving too much context, which I liked. It forced you to figure out what was happening, and who’s side you wanted to be on. You had to learn for yourself what was going on around the characters. Some people don’t like that, but I do. And it just felt so real. Like they were actual events that were currently happening. Almost like watching a documentary (but definitely not in a documentary style). The use of photography for this movie was beautiful and straight up genius. It was a main staple of the characters, and a way of displaying the events. It makes the movie super grounded. The actual cinematography was amazing, and some of the best I’ve seen from 2024 so far. It was gorgeous but also extremely tragic. The characters were also well written (with great performances from everyone). It was nice being stuck with for the entire movie, instead of bouncing around between different groups of people. I think the best part of the whole movie was that you only saw the war from their side, rather than from any of the enemies. You only see it from their eyes (and lenses). The soundtrack was really good, the action and visual effects were fantastic, and I loved how it was more character focused rather than straight battle. Overall, this movie is perfect in every way, and I’m seriously ready to go rewatch it. I would highly, HIGHLY recommend this to literally everyone. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
