Strange Way of Life (2023)
Strange Way of Life
This was almost exactly what I was expecting with this short film. On a story level, it’s really not anything superb. Two ex-lovers meet again, have a quick fling, then some minor chaos and that’s about it. It was good, it just wasn’t anything spectacular. But I like how it showed the character's depth. It does kind of throw you right in, but fills you in with a flashback, then you feel for each of them by the end. The western setting was also nice. If this was done with pretty much any modern setting, it would’ve blended right in with other short films. But it sticks out because of the time and setting. The cast was good, with Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal obviously taking the spotlight. I’m glad they got two of the handsomest men ever to do this short film. I, too, would fall in love with either of them. For the 30 minutes you spend with them, it goes by quickly, but by the end shot, I was satisfied with how it ended, and the creative decisions that were made between the two characters. Overall, this short film is well made, and I enjoyed it. I’d recommend it to all romance/drama/action fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
