Paranormal Activity 3 (2011)
Paranormal Activity 3
This is the third movie of this series, and it definitely takes a more different tone than the first two movies. It has the same vibe as the first two, but it takes a really dark and disturbing turn near the end of the movie. It definitely freaked me out plenty, and I love the way the story was written. The story of this one is connected to the first two movies, though it shows Katie and Kristi when they were younger. It gives you a look at some of the events mentioned in the first two movies, which is really nice. I like it because it basically fills you in on everything that happened in their childhood. However, despite the interesting story, there were a few plot holes, and although the ending is scary and awesome, it also sucks. It leaves off in a really confusing way, and leaves a lot of unanswered questions. I’m not a fan of the lack of information this movie gives in certain scenes. But, it’s still intriguing and fun to watch. The scares were great, and there were several that really got me good. The entire movie had a scary yet awesome vibe, and the scares only amplified that feeling. This movie is set in 1988, so the 80’s vibe and aesthetic made the movie even cooler. One complaint I have is that the 80’s footage doesn’t feel like an 80’s camera at all. The picture is pretty clear, which kind of takes away the feel. I wish it would have looked more authentic, but it was still decently good. The effects were pretty good all throughout, and they were all executed perfectly. They definitely scared me pretty good. The last few minutes of the movie were great, and I was pretty terrified because of what you see. I liked all the characters, and the acting was mostly good throughout. The girls who played Katie and Kristi did a really good job, and they were very creepy in certain scenes. I also loved the absence of any music or opening credits/title screen. Overall, I would recommend this to all horror/found footage fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
