The Benchwarmers (2006)
The Benchwarmers
Although this is a sucky movie, it’s still hilarious and entertaining. The whole thing is just dumb, with a lot of physical humor and some corny but awesome one liners. The story is actually not half bad, it’s just so cheesy. To me, it felt like a mix between Napoleon Dynamite and The Sandlot. It has sports, but also nerdy vibes. Speaking of Napoleon, the entire cast (especially the main trio) reminds me a lot of that, both casting and character-wise. Rob Schneider is the only one that actually has a semi-serious role, with his usual comedy incorporated into it. David Spade is great, and he rocks the bowl cut. And, of course, Jon Heder basically plays Napoleon’s younger brother. He has the same voice and same sense of humor. I love Jon so much. The music in this is dorky but pretty great, the baseball scenes are exciting but cringe-worthy, and the uniforms/sets are all awesome. So to wrap all that up, the movie is stupid, dumb, and corny. But, it was still hilarious, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’d definitely recommend this if you love bad comedies.
