Superbad (2007)
Superbad
In terms of comedy, this is one of the most iconic movies of the 2000s. I’ve never heard anything bad about it, and every friend that’s seen it has said it’s amazing. Unpopular opinion, but I do think it’s a bit overrated. I’m not saying this is bad, I just think people hype it up a little too much. Now, that’s partially because I’m not really a fan of these kinds of comedies anyways. I’m more into satire and spoofs, rather than these dumb teens movies. I’m not saying this movie is dumb, but the teens are dumb. Well, the movie is kind of dumb, but the good kind of dumb. The plot is both original yet a little familiar at times, but fresh enough to keep surprising you. It’s definitely a rollercoaster of misfortune. I like how a lot of this is just a bunch of random scenes connected together by an obvious storyline. However, some parts are just ridiculous and stupid. Stupid in a fun way, but still stupid. One thing I can’t complain about is the cast. Good grief, it’s perfect. I mean, the trinity of Michael Cera, Jonah Hill, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse is perfect enough. But when you throw in Seth Rogen, Bill Hader, Emma Stone, and others, then that just makes it extravagant. Everyone adds so much to the overall story. They also bring a good range of emotion. Overall, to me, this movie seems kind of pointless, but it’s still written well, and provided some good laughs. There were definitely some parts that felt a little long, but I decently enjoyed it for the most part. I’d probably recommend it to most comedy fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
