Scent of a Woman (1992)
Scent of a Woman
I enjoyed this movie way more than I thought I would. I wasn’t expecting anything bad, but I think it just stuck out to me in a much more sentimental and powerful way then what I was ready for. Partly is because of the writing, and the other, the characters. They fed off each other in an interesting way. Because the characters stood out so much, they make the actual plot feel more personable. And because the plot was emotional as well as funny, it made the characters relevant and driven. It provided entertainment as well as life lessons and a feel good conclusion. The first half of the movie was about what I was thinking it would be, but it hits a point where I just got….struck. I’m not really sure what I mean by that. I just got so invested and it hit me really deep, something I haven’t felt from a movie in quite some time. I have Al Pacino and Chris O’Donnell to thank for that. They personify their characters in both a good and tragic way. There was one scene in particular that really hit hard (you probably know which one), which involves a scary decision that many people struggle with everyday. It was well performed and directed, which only makes it stand out more. I won’t say much more cause I don’t want to give too much away. In fact, I’ll end it here, because you need to see this for yourself. You walk away feeling so much more enlightened than before. Some people don’t share the same sentiment that I do, but it’s just such a remarkable movie. It did feel a tad bit long, but it’s worth it by the time you get to the end. I’d definitely recommend it to all drama fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now! Hoo-ah!
