• Look, the critics were way too harsh on this movie. WAY too harsh. I mean, I agree it’s not super well made, but it was extremely fun, and critics don’t know how to have fun. It was such an exciting movie, with tons of action. In fact, it’s my favorite Expendables movie of the four. I love them all, but this one just barely beats the others. It’s definitely nothing unique or special, just another action movie with big name stars. Nothing is new, and the story is just a story. Compared to other action movies that have come out in 2023, it’s not that good. But, it’s blood pumping and (somewhat) emotion driven. I really loved the Statham-centric plot, with some really good turn of events. This movie actually has one of my favorite twists of all time. Let’s just say the rug definitely gets pulled from under your feet. That’s all I’ll say. Anyways, all the characters are great, and you definitely come to hate the bad guys. There’s a couple instances where I was wondering what the heck the writers were thinking when it came to a few certain scenes, but besides those, everyone was great. Especially Statham. It was also really nice to see Stallone, Lundgren, and some other familiar faces return. And even though some faces didn’t return, the newly assembled Expendables are still a powerhouse squad. One big complaint I have is some of the CGI. While some bits were good, others were extremely obvious, and low budget looking. But that’s what makes these movies cheesy and fun. Overall, I really loved it, and one of my favorite movies of 2023. I’d definitely recommend it to all action fans, and I want to tell all the Rotten Tomatoes critics to go get a life and learn what cinema actually is.
