Predators (2010)
Predators
This was better than what I thought it would be. Based on Rotten Tomatoes and Letterboxd ratings, I was expecting something bland and pointless, but I enjoyed it a good amount. It was reminiscent of the first Predator movie in terms of setting, grittiness, and characters. I liked how it was a mix between ‘The Most Dangerous Game’, ‘The Hunger Games’, and some of the Rambo movies. All of that, and throw in some Predators. Because it feels like all those movies, I don’t think the story was anything super unique. There were a lot of moments where I felt like I’d already seen some of the things happen in previous Predator movies. The action feels repeated, though it’s still pretty well done. Of course, all the fighting, shooting, and chasing was totally awesome, and the Predators look just as cool as ever. The continued use of suits rather than unnecessary CGI is what helps make it so fun to watch. The cast did a good job, and though it was nothing super memorable, I really enjoyed seeing Adrien Brody totally go ham on some Predators. That dude is amazing. Overall, this movie isn’t anything groundbreaking, but it’s still pretty fun and it’s definitely one I might revisit. I’d probably recommend it to most sci-fi/action fans.
