Paranormal Activity (2007)
Paranormal Activity
This is one of the very few movies that has actually scared me. There were several moments where I genuinely considered turning it off, and this is definitely not one to watch at night. During the day scenes, I was totally fine. However, during the night scenes, I was absolutely terrified. They did such a great job of creating the perfect atmosphere of creepy vibes. This movie was also extremely suspenseful, and there were a couple scenes where I could feel my heart racing. The whole feel of the movie was just terrifying, which was perfect. However, despite the awesome feel and effects, this movie definitely felt too drawn out. I got pretty bored during the daytime scenes. The transitions were video splices were also pretty crappy and didn’t make a whole lot of sense. I definitely thought it could’ve been edited better. And, like I said, it just felt too long and drawn out. Despite the movie only being 86 minutes long, it lasted forever. But, the night scenes definitely made up for the boring ones. The overall acting was pretty good, and I really liked the whole “found footage” feel. It makes the movie feel authentic, and even though there were some corny moments, it still felt pretty cool. I also liked the very minimal cast. There were only 4 or 5 people we saw on screen, which I liked. The absence of music in this movie was absolutely awesome, as it makes it feel so real life. I also liked how there weren’t any opening or closing footage, which makes the found footage vibe awesome. Overall, this movie scared the crap out of me, and I’d definitely recommend it to all horror fans.
