Halloween (2018)
I wasn’t expecting too much with this, but it's surprisingly better than I thought. It’s definitely one of those movies that didn’t really need to be made, just because it’s essentially a sequel that doesn’t add anything at all to the characters or storyline. It’s just a way to see Michael return, and have Laurie back in action once again. Despite that, it's pretty entertaining with great kills and an awesome, dark tone. I’m too used to the beauty of the original, so it does take some getting used to the more modern setting and filming style. The characters were alright, but Michael is awesome, and probably has his best look in any Halloween movie. The beat up mask was awesome, and provided the perfect gritty look. I love when horror movies do that, such as ‘Scream VI’ and the later FT13 movies. I also love how this movie somewhat embraces his human side, in terms of showing under the mask. It's cool how it shows that anybody could be a serial killer. He's just awesome, as is the great performance by Jamie Lee Curtis. Watching her wield a gun and fight back is awesome. Overall, this movie is pretty good, and though the writing is on the weaker side, I’d probably recommend it to most horror fans, especially if you've seen the original 'Halloween'.
