Inside
My brain has been tickled in a very uncomfortable way. I mean, the movie was pretty much exactly what I was expecting it to be. I think I was disappointed in that. There weren’t really any twists or anything. Everything I thought would happen did happen, and the surprises were very minimal. There were some also interesting creative choices which somewhat make sense, but also no sense at all. I can’t say what they are for spoilers. During the movie, I kept asking myself why certain things were put in there, even though there’s an obvious answer. The specific scenes I’m talking about throw off the whole vibe and setting, which I didn’t like. But besides that, everything else was intriguing. It did feel way too long, and I don’t think it should’ve been more than 90 minutes. You could’ve easily cut out 15 minutes and it would’ve still been just as fine. One thing that was brilliant was Willem Dafoe (as always). He just does a great job of playing insane dudes. I love watching his mental deterioration throughout the movie. He really starts to play tricks with your head. Gosh, I love him. There’s really not much more to say about the movie. It’s nothing brilliant, but usually entertaining. It’s not one I think I’ll need to see again anytime soon, but it was a good first watch. I’d probably recommend it to most psychological thriller fans, especially if you like movies such as ‘Buried’.
