• My brain is mush and I’m really tired, so I’m gonna keep my thoughts to a minimum here. For starters, this film could’ve easily been 20-30 minutes shorter, and that probably would’ve improved it a great deal. There were so many scenes where I was waiting for it to move on and get somewhere, but it felt so dragged out it’s not even funny. I don’t think the story concept is necessarily bad, but the execution was horrible. The dip into Christmas mythology was cool, but from start to finish, it’s a bore. It just didn’t have any kind of flame to it, or really anything memorable. The acting was mediocre at best, with The Rock playing the exact same character in ten of his other films, and Chris Evans being comedic but nothing new. The visual effects were absolute garbage, and though the character design was decent for most of the creatures, it was still overwhelmingly noticeable and very cheap looking. I can’t think of anything else to add. Overall, the film is pretty flavorless. It has its moments that are fun, but it’s not often. I know I won’t watch it again, nor would I recommend it unless you just like crappy Christmas movies.
