Clue (1985)
Clue
Flames, on the side of my face! Coming in as the 22nd perfect movie in Berry History, Clue is one that provides plenty of mystery and murder, as well as comedy from some great dialogue and hilarious characters. Based on the board game of the same name, it brings those characters to life through fantastic actors. Clue is actually my favorite board game of all time, so being able to watch this movie is a real treat for me. Personally, I always play as Colonel Mustard. In fact, I even have a Funko Pop of him. Anyways, the movie is so brilliantly thought out. From start to finish, you constantly question who the killer is, and what their motive might be. The trick endings are also genius. And not only is the story well written, but the comedic relief is what makes it so special. You can get caught up in both the hilarity, as well as the mystery. There is both physical humor, as well as some well delivered and improvised lines. The cast is such a talented ensemble, with great actors such as Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd, Madeline Khan, Michael McKean, and so much more. Both physically and mentally, they all embody their characters so well. They make it so believable. It feels so much like a board game, as well as a movie. It’s the perfect combination. There are also some good throwbacks to the actual game. The music is great, and though sometimes a little corny, it’s very playful, but also kind of serious at the same time. I also love the use of “Sh-Boom”, which authenticates the time and setting of the movie. Overall, this is such a ridiculously good film, and probably one of the funniest ones I’ve ever seen. It’s packed full of great characters, plenty of twists and turns, tons of comedy, and so many iconic moments. I would highly recommend it to all comedy/mystery/crime fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
