Mission: Impossible (1996)
Mission: Impossible
As the first movie of the Mission: Impossible series, it definitely kicked it off strong and exciting. This movie is definitely one of the most exciting and suspenseful action movies I’ve recently seen, and the entire film was nonstop fun from beginning to end. The story was easy to follow along with, and it pulls you in from the very beginning. It gives you the perfect feeling of heart racing espionage, and it actually feels pretty realistic. It didn’t feel too fictional or fake, and that’s why I loved it so much. Tom Cruise did a great job in his role, and though he looks youthful, he still gives the feel of a rugged agent. I think very few actors could’ve done his role as well as he did, and his charismatic yet intense personality was done perfectly. I haven’t seen many Tom Cruise movies, but watching this one has definitely piqued my interest in his career and other roles. I also really enjoyed Jon Voight. I’ve always liked both him and his characters in other movies, so having him in this one was a nice surprise. I love how well he’s able to portray both a hero and villain, and his character was really intriguing to watch progress throughout the movie. The rest of the cast was great as well. My favorite scene of the whole movie was the vault break-in scene. As far as I’m concerned, it’s one of the best shot and most suspenseful scenes of all time. It had me tapping my foot and fidgeting for the entire thing, and very few movies have ever made me do that. The absence of music in it was also extremely unique, and that’s what made it work so well. It was almost completely silent, and almost made you feel like you were in the room with the agents. It felt so realistic to me, and that’s why it was so unique and awesome. The score was also insanely good. It’s definitely one of the best action soundtracks I’ve heard, and the main theme was unbelievably awesome and iconic. Much like the James Bond theme, it really gets your blood flowing, and it sets you up with a great level of intensity and excitement. I’d definitely say it’s one of the best movie themes ever written. Overall, this was a really great movie, and along with kicking off a series in a good way, it delivers a great story with tons of adrenaline. I’d highly recommend it to all action fans.
