Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
I have to say that I think I actually enjoyed this one better than the first movie. Although both were extremely well made, this one just had a better plot to me, and I absolutely love the fact that they explored the personal history behind Peter. It helped you connect with him more, as well as understand what he was feeling. Unlike the first movie, this one definitely uses Chris Pratt’s more serious side in certain scenes. He shows that he can act not just for comic relief, but emotion that comes out of the screen, and straight into you. He did such a great job of showing pain and anger, and it gave the movie a bit of a slightly darker tone. There were a few specific scenes where I really felt the feelings that Chris was portraying, and I really admire the job he did. The rest of the cast was really great as well, and Kurt Russell also did a great job with his role. He was able to perfectly lead you into a false sense of security, which is something I always love in a movie. I wish that Sly Stallone had a bit of a bigger role, and I was really disappointed we only got to see him in 2 or 3 scenes. But, I’m biased, so of course I’m gonna feel that way. The effects, visuals, and CGI were absolutely stunning in this movie, and there were so many moments that left my mouth open. The whole space look that is given to this movie (as well as the first one) is totally gorgeous. There was only one scene where the effects looked kind of off, but besides that one, my mind was completely blown away. There were so many great shots, and that’s what makes this movie so great. One thing I didn’t like at all was Baby Groot. This is definitely an unpopular opinion, but I just thought he was dumb and felt pointless. I feel like movies absolutely abuse the use of cute looking animals/aliens, and I just don’t like it. In the first movie, he was this older, taller, and slower tree thing. He had a great presence, but then in this one, he was just a little thing for everyone to goggle at. But, that’s just me. The music was great again, and though I prefer the first soundtrack over this one, it was still put together really well. There was also one scene in particular where the score was really good and beautifully played, and I loved it. Overall, this has a great story, great characters, and I would definitely recommend it. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
