Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
This was such a fun sequel to the first Doctor Strange. Even though I think the first one is the best of the two, I actually liked this one more, though not by much. It’s a good follow up, because it adds more to Strange’s story, as well as investigating some other important characters. I loved the duo of Strange and Wanda, even if they were against each other. It was a great concept. The entire story was pretty great, although you kinda have to see WandaVision in order to understand some certain things. I’ve always liked the multiversal projects that Marvel has put together, and this one doesn’t miss. It’s not too confusing, which is nice in the grand scheme of things. But, it adds enough detail to keep it interesting, without overloading your brain. The movie also doesn’t have to rely on multiverse cameos in order to contribute to the story. There are obviously some scenes that have some special characters that you might not be expecting, but the movie doesn’t ride on them, which is really nice. Plus, the whole horror aspect of the movie is so neat, and extremely unique for the MCU. It makes this movie so unlike any other MCU film I’ve seen. It’s evident that this was done by Sam Raimi. There were so many shots and moments that were straight up terrifying (but not super scary or anything). It was so good. However, despite all the great story and writing, there were some minor things that I didn’t really care for. Some of the VFX was a little iffy, though a lot of it was great. I loved the design of the alternate Strange’s. I do think it’s funny how Peter Parker’s variants are all very different looking, but for Strange, they're all just the same guy with slightly different hair. Just a funny thing to think about. Anyways, the score was really good, with some hints of the classic horror string sound, some Beethoven, and the fun Marvel feel that most of the movies have. Overall, this movie was very fun, though the first Doctor Strange is still superior to me. I would definitely recommend this to all MCU/superhero/horror(ish) fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
