Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Captain America: Civil War
The third movie and final movie in the Captain America trilogy, this is arguably the best of the three. I really loved the story, and it asks about ethics of superheroes, which is something a lot of superhero movies don’t look at. This movie was extremely reminiscent of Batman v Superman, and many of the main themes were very similar. In fact, this movie was actually inspired by Batman v Superman, which is something I like to brag about. The stories aren’t the exact same, but a portion of the overall plot was almost parallel. I won’t go into detail of the specifics of the story, but it does a great job of going into the ethics of superheroes. It asks the question of how far a superhero should go, as well as the loss of life that almost always occurs when they try to defend Earth. It was also interesting to watch the Avengers try to cope with each other. It puts a great spin on the whole movie. It pulls you in from the very start, and keeps you plugged in until the last second. Although I felt that the movie was just a little too long, I still liked it. The whole cast of characters was awesome, and they made the movie really fun. I was a little disappointed that Thor and Hulk didn’t show up, but their absence was filled in by Black Panther and Spider-Man. Adding a few new characters to this one kept it fresh and moving, as well as building your knowledge of each character. The continuation of the Winter Soldier’s origin and backstory was really intriguing to watch, and Tony's story as well. This movie does a good character study for a few of them. The acting was really great, and I was really excited to see both T’Challa and Spider-Man’s debut. The action scenes were freaking incredible, and this movie definitely has some of my favorite (as well as the best) action sequences/shots in any Marvel movie. The fight scenes are very well planned and choreographed. The infamous scene where the two teams face off against each other was extremely entertaining to see. Watching teammates fight each other is always fun, and though unorthodox, it’s hard to not enjoy it. The CGI also helps make those scenes awesome. Like I said, although many parts of this movie were fun and exciting, there were a few scenes where I got just a little bored. Overall, this movie was pretty great, and I would definitely recommend it. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
