Quantum of Solace (2008)
Quantum of Solace
The second Daniel Craig movie as 007, this one was a bit disappointing to me. Although the movie was decently good, it definitely felt a bit long to me. It’s not that the movie was too long, it just felt a bit boring and slow to me. The story was good, although it definitely didn’t live up to the standards of Casino Royale. I like how the story picks up immediately after Casino Royale, which was nice. There isn’t a big or weird jump between movies, which helps the movie make a bit more sense. However, after that point, there were a few small things I was confused about. I did like the overall plot, and a movie about a mysterious, evil organization is always fun. Daniel Craig continues to do a fantastic job as 007, and I always enjoy every second he’s on screen. He brings so much action and strength to the role. He has the same energy that he had in Casino Royale, which was both good and fun to see. Judi Dench also continues doing a great job as well. I was also pretty impressed by Mathieu Amalric as Dominic Greene. He made for a great villain, as well as bringing forth a great villain persona. The acting all around was decent. There were some great effects used, much like the first movie. There were plenty of action sequences that were pretty thrilling, though everything in between was a bit boring. They were also pretty well shot, and it made all the action scenes pretty thrilling. The music was decent, and the main theme continues to give me chills every time. However, it wasn’t present throughout the movie, and you only hear it in the end credits. I was disappointed by that, but I still got to hear it once. I also liked the opening song, performed by Jack and Meg White. Overall, I’d recommend this movie to action/espionage fans, although it will be a while before I watch this one again.
