A Minecraft Movie (2025)
A Minecraft Movie
If you were to ask me what video game I’ve played the most in my lifetime, my answer would be Minecraft. There’s others that have come close (Lego Star Wars, Lego Indiana Jones, and Lego Batman), but ultimately, the amount of time I’ve spent mining and crafting is uncountable. That being said, the many months leading up to this film was very exciting for me. Especially since it was directed by Jared Hess, who also did ‘Napoleon Dynamite’ and ‘Nacho Libre’, two of my favorites films ever. I was anticipating it to be horrible, yet very enjoyable, and I was pretty close. I think it’s extremely underrated. It’s not a film where you need to think too hard. Just sit back and have fun. Turn off your brain and enjoy the comedy. To all you critics, bashing it as the worst film of 2025, shut up and just have fun. Idiots. I mean, it is extremely goofy, extremely corny, and extremely cheesy, but it’s ENTERTAINING. The story is definitely full of cliches and dumb moments, but I sucked up every second of it. Everyone in the theater was laughing and having a good time, including myself, and that’s what the point of cinema is. Anyways, the acting was about as cringey as it gets, but it fits the whole vibe so well, it feels perfectly natural. Jack Black is great as always, and he basically just plays himself. Jason Momoa was also hilarious, and Jennifer Coolidge steals the show in every frame she’s in. The visuals were pretty good for the most part, though there were a couple moments where green screens were extremely evident. However, the character/creature designs were top notch, the colors were wonderfully vibrant and bright, and the buildings and structures looked authentic and true to the game. Absolutely awesome production design. Lastly, the soundtrack is sweet, and “I Feel Alive” is one of the catchiest songs in recent years (for me, at least), and I’ve had it on repeat for several days. Overall, this film is exactly what you’d expect, but it’s so much fun, and I can’t wait to watch it again. CHICKEN JOCKEY! This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
