Arrested Development (2003-2019)
Arrested Development
This watch has been a long time coming. I’ve known this show for awhile, and I’ve seen quite a few clips, some of which include the “mayonegg” and Blue Tobias. Upon watching it, I can boldly say that this is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. I enjoyed it even more than I thought, because I watched it right after ‘Succession’. With ‘Succession’, it’s a dark comedy with some very tense moments, and it’s all about a family business and family drama. Then on the other end, you have ‘Arrested Development’, which is also about a family business and family drama. However, it’s extremely comedic, with some of the best writing I’ve seen from a show in a long time. More specifically with the dialogue. Most of the dialogue was some of the funniest stuff you’ll ever watch, as it’s edgy and extremely witty. The actual storylines are pretty good, and though it can feel slightly repetitive sometimes, it’s still very entertaining. The characters are absolutely the best, with each one being so extremely unique. The cast ensemble that includes Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Michael Cera, David Cross, and more, is so talented and makes this worth watching. Each person so perfectly embodies their character, and they all have fantastic line deliveries and comedic timing. And Ron Howard’s narration completes the show so well. I love how meta it is, and how much it pokes fun at itself and current events. So well done. Literally my only complaint is the time jumps between the last couple seasons. Not that they don’t work, it’s just that it takes some getting used to. But besides that, it’s one of the best shows I’ve ever seen, and I wish I could watch back again for the first time. From Michael Bluth to Barry Zuckerkorn, and Tobias Fünke to Bob Loblaw, the collection of characters is great, with a fun, spicy storyline that always left me thinking about the awesome humor. I’d recommend this to all comedy fans. This show is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
