Anatomy of a Fall (2023)
Anatomy of a Fall
This is easily one of the best written movies of 2023, and if you don’t think so, then your opinion is no longer valid. Now, here’s the thing. I do think this was very well made, but it did get a bit old after a while. I was totally invested in the story and characters, but it didn’t hit me as hard as I thought it would. I kind of figured out how it would end before it did, so there wasn’t anything surprising at all. It has a relieving conclusion, though still sad after what happened. The movie also brings up a very important look at mental health, and for everybody, not just men or women. That’s about all I can say before giving anything away. Like I said, it was brilliantly written, but unfortunately, I can’t really say why because of spoilers. The amount of detail presented to the audience is incredible, especially because it’s not overwhelming. The movie takes its time explaining and presenting evidence, like every courtroom drama should. You definitely feel the runtime, but I believe it’s very necessary. The acting was incredible, with an awesome performance from Sandra Hüller. She brought one of the best female performances of 2023, and definitely Oscar worthy. You can see so much pain through her eyes and movements, which only adds to the emotion of the movie. Overall, this movie was well played, although it did have a couple weak moments, and though the screenplay was fantastic, it was a tad bit predictable. I’d definitely recommend this to all courtroom/crime fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
