Saw IV (2007)
Saw IV
Although the continuation of the Jigsaw story line was good, this movie was still somewhat of a let-down. Like the third one, the story is written to continue the character’s backstories and origins, but in terms of a plot, it’s scattered. I liked how they brought back Rigg, because even though he’s in Saw II, we don’t know much about who he is. We’re able to witness his journey in this movie, and he’s a fun character to watch. I’m also glad that we got to see more of Donnie Wahlberg, and even though his character has kind of gone to waste, I’m still happy we got to find out more about what happened to him. I also really liked being able to see Kramer’s backstory, including his marriage. In some scenes, you even almost start to feel sympathetic for him, until you remember everything that he’s done. The traps in this movie were really good but really gruesome, and much like the third, it’s extremely brutal and hard to watch. I found myself getting lost and confused in several places, and though it makes sense in the end, I was having some trouble following along. Overall, it's one of the weakest of the franchise, but still somewhat fun.
