• Unfortunately, I believe that this movie was a step down from the first two. It wasn’t necessarily bad, but it wasn’t necessarily good. I think the biggest problem for me was how it was basically a side story. Basically none of the events were related to the first two movies, except for a few minor things. I got so pulled into the Lambert’s stories that I wanted to see more of that, not some random prequel story. However, even though it wasn’t what I wanted, it was still mostly enjoyable. I can definitely name a couple things that just felt cheesy and dumb, but that’s what makes it fun. I did enjoy seeing Elise and the boys back in action once again. I love seeing how the Insidious franchise centers around her, which is not what you’d expect after seeing the first Insidious. I didn’t really care for many of the characters, except for Elise, Specs, and Tucker. They are what keep the movie enjoyable. Like I said, a lot of it is dumb, but still fun and spooky. Plus, the ending is awesome, and it really leaves you grasping for more. Overall, it’s not as good as the first two, but still fun in its own way. I’d probably recommend it if you like horror, but make sure to be caught up in the series.
