Juror #2 (2024)
Juror #2
Clint Eastwood is 94 years old. He just made one of the most thrilling films I’ve seen this year. The amount of respect I have for him is unmatched. I mean, 94 years old and he still has the magic and sharpness of cinema in his mind. Absolutely amazing. Now, complaints out of the way first. I think the biggest issue this film has is that it feels too much like other courtroom dramas I’ve seen. Especially ‘12 Angry Men’. It has similar storytelling, and very similar themes. Despite the comparisons, this film still has some little twists up its sleeve that makes it stand out. There’s not a lot I can say without spoiling the plot, but it takes some great turns and builds heart pounding tension throughout the whole thing. The suspense was sometimes very hard to take, especially in the final scene. It literally had me on the edge of my seat, my hands covering my mouth, trying to figure out how to comprehend it. I can’t say much more about it. Anyways, the point I was trying to make is that the plot feels familiar, but it still has it’s own original ideas. The performances were outstanding from the entire cast, especially Nicholas Hoult (obviously). He does so much communicating through his eyes and body language, and I’d say he’s one of the best actors in the last decade. Amazing specimen, and I envy his girlfriend. Overall, this film is very strong in many ways, though it has some weaknesses in the writing department. But the screenplay is great and the way the tension slowly grows is fantastic. I’d recommend it to all crime/drama fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
