Batman Returns (1992)
Batman Returns
I would say that this is definitely a downgrade from the first movie, and I think it's pretty awful. Tim Burton kind of out-Burtons himself, if that makes sense. This movie just seems weird to me, though still a tiny bit enjoyable. A lot of the characters and sets have the same feel as the first one, though it just seems a bit more outlandish. I do like the story, although when you pay attention to it, you’ll understand what I mean when I say it’s kind of weird (it makes sense towards the end). I like how parts of the plot take a leaf out of Batman ‘66’s book. There are some very similar themes and situations, which is nice. Like I stated, all the characters have the same vibes that the original movie had, and I like them all. Of course, Keaton back as Batman is awesome, and he continues to do an outstanding job. I like seeing a bit more of his personal side, especially when it comes to Bruce Wayne. His suit looks similar to his ‘89 suit, though a bit upgraded, which makes it better. Danny DeVito as the Penguin is extremely brilliant, as he has a great look and awesome portrayal. His voice is similar to Burgess Meredith’s raspy voice, so I think that’s cool. Christopher Walken is pretty good, though a little pointless, but the real star is Michelle Pfeiffer. She is easily the best live action Catwoman of all time. Though she’s not my favorite, she’s still in my top 3. She does a purrfect job, as she is mysterious, yet gentle, yet violent. Her suit is absolutely awesome, and I would be very surprised if anybody can top her performance. The music is great once again, though I prefer the original score from ‘89 more. Overall, this movie isn't great, though there’s some midly enjoyable moments. I probably wouldn't recommend it, unless you're a DC fan or you like dumb superhero movies.
