Batman: The Movie (1966)
Batman: The Movie (1966)
Holy polaris! If someone asked me what movie would define my childhood, this is it right here. I have seen it more times than I can count, and it’s easily in my top 5 of movies I’ve seen the most. It’s just so personal to me, as it was my true first introduction to Batman. When people say Batman, the first person that comes to mind is Adam West. Though Batfleck is my favorite, Adam West is Batman. It’s as simple as that. Many think that the show and movie are dumb and silly (which they are, to an extent). But, this movie is actually really good, and the goofiness is what makes it so fun and entertaining. Much like Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, this is a very campy Batman. It’s over the top and very colorful, and definitely not the dark Batman people are used to. But I love it like that. I love the main plot, which is basically just an extra long episode from the show. You have a great team up of the four main Batman villains: Joker, Riddler, Penguin, and Catwoman. It’s the only time (in live action) that you ever see all four villains in one film, except for The Batman. The dynamic duo of Adam West and Burt Ward is so perfect, as their chemistry is very notable. The entire costume design is awesome, and it contributes to the very childish but fun feel. This is one of those movies that I wish everyone could see, and I truly can’t express how much I love it. Plus, it has my favorite Batman scene of all time, only behind the warehouse scene from BvS. Overall, the movie is really silly but very well made, and I have seen it a million times. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
