Gen V (Season 1)
Gen V (Season 1)
I was slightly skeptical coming into this show, just because spin-offs are sometimes a bit…crappy. However, I really, really enjoyed this show. I think without it, The Boys would still be The Boys, but this adds some fun backstory and future plans for both shows, and the characters involved. It did take me an episode or two to get into it, because a lot of characters I was used to weren’t in this (such as the Seven, Hughie, Billy, etc). But, the fresh faces and change of scenery was really nice, and which quickly helps you get wrapped up into everything. The college setting was good. I like how it studies supes and their schooling, all while uncovering secrets that threaten their lives. That’s all I’ll say plot-wise, because I don’t want to give anything away. I just love how it seems so simple, but not everything is as it seems. Let’s just say it only makes Vought look even more evil than ever before. There were great performances all around, and all the characters were (mostly) likable. There are definitely some that are iffy, but the main protagonists were all awesome. I grew very attached to them, and I’m not very curious how they’ll be handled in the second season. The special effects were awesome as always, the music was good, and the whole thing was interesting and exciting. If you've seen The Boys, you’d definitely like this. This season is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
