The Strange Thing About the Johnsons (2011)
The Strange Thing About the Johnsons
So this isn’t a full length movie, as it’s only 30 minutes. It’s a short film by Ari Aster, who did Midsommar and Hereditary. I had no idea what it was about going into it, I’ve only heard that it’s very disturbing. And let me tell you, it definitely has one of the worst vibes I’ve ever felt from a movie. It’s not something I can explain. This was just such an odd movie that takes a horrific and very disturbing turn. It also deals with real issues, which is why it feels so realistic. The acting was incredible, the music was good (but not great), and the whole thing just felt so….off. That’s about all I’m gonna say, because I don’t wanna give away too much. Just know that this isn’t for everyone. If you’re gonna watch it, then mentally prepare. Personally, I wouldn't even recommend it, because even while I’m writing this, I still feel so weird and unclean after seeing it. It was definitely decently made, and I enjoyed it for the most part. I just can’t put into words how it leaves you feeling. Anyways, you can find the full thing on YouTube, so if you want (and I suggest you don’t unless you’re into this kind of stuff), then go watch it. This short film is officially Berry Approved!
