God's Not Dead (2014)
God’s Not Dead
“God is good, all of the time. And all of the time, God is good.”
Wow. I knew this movie would be impactful, but I had no idea the effect it would have after seeing it. This is definitely one of the most emotional times I’ve had watching a movie, and once I finished, I just sat in silence for several minutes. It hit me so hard, way more harder than I ever thought it would. This is definitely one you have to experience for yourself, as it delivers a very personal message. I liked the story because it feels very realistic and authentic. Most of the students in the movie were probably around my age (or slightly older), so it feels even more relatable. It’s also something that can, and has, happened in real life, which only gives it a more real feel. The ending was one of the best parts of the movie, and it really gets you thinking about everything you’ve seen. The last 30 minutes were the most impactful to me, enough to drive me to tears multiple times. Now, a lot of the acting was exaggerated and very corny, but it’s also very serious and drives the message. There were also a lot of scenes that were very awkward. The score was also very corny, though I loved the use of Newsboys at the end of the film. It’s a great wrap up to the movie, and leaves you on a positive note. Overall, the movie in itself is downright horrible, as the dialogue is horrifically awful and the acting sometimes looks forced. But, it still punches you in the gut while delivering a fantastic message. I would highly recommend EVERYONE watch this, whether you are a Christian or not. Please. You can take two hours to watch this, because trust me, you will be touched in a bigger way than all of us. Remember: God’s not dead. He is there for you, at any time of the day, no matter what situation you’re in. He loves you.
