Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery
Man, this movie is so good. I don’t care how dumb or corny it is, I can’t help but give it anything lower than an A- overall. Almost every single second was packed full of humor, and I was laughing almost the whole time. There’s just something about a dumb 90’s comedy/spoof that never gets old. It’s the whole spoof attitude that makes it so hilarious. It’s very obviously based on James Bond, and it works beautifully. From Dr. Evil, Random Task, and everything else, there are so many little references that are awesome. The story is basically a typical spy movie, just jam packed with comedy. The hilarity is just great. I also love how there are also a couple serious moments as well, so it evens everything else. The protagonists were great, the antagonists were great, everyone was great. Mike Myers successfully pulls off the double role, which is sometimes hard to do. His performances are very over the top (which are obviously on purpose), but they don’t get old. The soundtrack is also super sweet, with a great 60’s spy sound, with some sentimental moments. Of course, the main theme is iconic, and one of the best movie themes ever written. Overall, this movie is ridiculous, yet amazing. It’s a great mix of James Bond, Get Smart, and a little bit of ‘66 Batman. I’d definitely recommend it if you like stupid comedies. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
