Terrifier 3 (2024)
Terrifier 3
To my great surprise, I actually thoroughly enjoyed this, unlike the previous two Terrifiers. I can understand why many people won’t like this, because they’ll say it’s just a big gorefest, which it technically is. However, I loved the narrative about PTSD and traumatic experiences. It’s not the best written movie ever, but it actually has some depth, rather than just being a bunch of dead people. There’s plenty of dead people, but the characters are interesting and there are some nice emotional scenes. Emotional in a happy and sad way. It was a simple story that continues everything from the second one, with a time jump. They fit together nicely, without too much confusion. Some familiar faces return, along with some new ones. And there was a great Clint Howard cameo! The acting was pretty solid too, which was refreshing from previous movies. I definitely got attached to Sienna and Jonathan, and I’m interested to say what plays out with them in the potential next movie. Of course, Art and Victoria were also amazing again. To me, they are better than ever in this one. Lastly, the practical effects were a chef’s kiss. The shower scene, the opening scene, literally every scene. Blood, guts, skin, it was all very sickening but fun. Kudos to everyone involved in the production. Overall, this movie was a step up from the second, and though it’s nothing spectacular, it’s entertaining and has a better story than the first two movies. I’d recommend it to all body horror/slasher fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
