Werewolf by Night (2022)
Werewolf by Night
Alright Hollywood, you’ve seen what Michael Giacchino can do. It’s time to give this man every movie ever and let him direct. Because this dude can do it all. I’ve always been a fan of his musical work, as he’s probably my favorite composer, only behind John Williams. He finally got a chance to direct something, and that thing was ‘Werewolf by Night’ for the MCU. The best thing about it is that it’s basically a horror movie while still being canon to the MCU. It’s time to bring more horror into that universe. This movie (which is only an hour) is awesome because of the way it has the exact same vibes as the classic Universal monster movies. ‘Dracula’, ‘Frankenstein’, ‘The Wolf Man’.....all of the above. It was shot in black and white was the cherry on top. It was gorgeous. The cinematography and lighting was so spot on, and helped greatly in the storytelling. I won’t specifically say what the story is about, because it’s a great experience to see for yourself. Let’s just say it would be great to watch on Halloween. The score was also really good, and it was another thing Giacchino did in this movie. It was creepy, suspenseful, and helped generate some of the vibes of a classic monster movie. That’s all I’m gonna say, so I don’t give anything else away. It's very unique and needs to be seen without any inside knowledge. Overall, this MCU special presentation was extremely solid, and though it’s not mind blowing or anything, it’s still great and I look forward to watching it again. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
