Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014)
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit
As the fifth movie of the Jack Ryan series, this one was a bit disappointing, although most of it was still decently good. Even though it’s the weakest movie of the series, it was still good. I did think some of it was a bit bland, but the majority of the story was pretty fun. I just thought it kind of moved at a weird pace, but that might just be me. One thing I did like about the story is how, in a way, it’s almost a prequel. You get to see Jack in his early days, which is a very different change from the four previous movies. It was nice seeing Jack enter the world of espionage as a newcomer. I wasn’t really a huge fan of many of the characters, except for Pine, Knightley, Branagh, and Costner. They were great additions to the cast, as well as a good contribution to the story. The action scenes were pretty good, and I was impressed by all the car scenes. All the action scenes were pretty gripping, though everything in between was a bit slow. I wasn’t really a huge fan of the music, and I never really noticed it much. The score was prominent in several scenes, but it never really captured my attention. Overall, this movie was decent, though it lost me at a couple points. I’d still recommend it to all action fans.
