The Matrix (1999)
The Matrix
Now don’t get me wrong, this was a fantastically made movie. But holy crap did it confuse the heck out of me. I’m definitely gonna have to rewatch this at some point to get a better grasp of what happens. However, even though I was often confused, I still enjoyed most of the movie. The story was very intriguing, and extremely unique. I loved the originality of it, especially all the characters, and the setting. Several pieces of the movie reminded me of Inception, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Chris Nolan was inspired by this movie. I thought that the pacing was nice, as the movie immediately jumps into the main plot, and stays strong until the very end. I really enjoyed all the action sequences, which were shot and choreographed beautifully. That made them so thrilling and very mesmerizIng. All the effects and CGI were also pretty good, although you can definitely tell that this was made in the late 90’s. I loved Larry Fishburne and Keanu Reeves in this, along with most everyone else. Each character adds a little something special to the main story. I enjoyed seeing their relationships with one another, in between the breaks of action. The music was also great. I can’t stress enough how well it fits the feel of the movie. The electronic sound it has helps authenticate the plot and characters in a strong way. Overall, this movie was very good, though I definitely need to see it again to understand everything that goes down. I would most definitely recommend it to all sci-fi/action fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go see it now!
