Paranormal Activity 2 (2010)

Paranormal Activity 2

  • This is the sequel to the first film, and I actually thought it was better, both cinematically and enjoyable. The story was very similar to the first one, but it still had its own special touches. I really liked how it’s based on Katie’s sister and her family, and the continuation of that storyline was intriguing and fun to watch. I like how the first few movies in this series are all connected and view different aspects of Katie and Kristi’s story. In terms of scariness, this one definitely didn’t get me as good as the first movie did. There were still several moments that made me jump, and there was one in particular that actually made me move out of my chair. I really like how this movie uses multiple security cameras to catch the footage, instead of just the one angle in the first movie. It gave it such a creepier feel, and although the first movie was scarier, this one had a more eerie vibe. All the characters were great, and the acting was pretty good as well. Like the first one, there were definitely some moments that felt a little forced or exaggerated. But, because of that, it gave the movie an authentic tone, and it helped boost the found footage feel. Most of the effects were really good, one scene in particular that I was impressed with. There was also one moment where the effects were very questionable, and it made me cringe just a bit. But overall, they were all pretty good. I also like the immediate jump straight into the movie without credits or a title. (Spoiler) The ending was great, and before the end credits, there were several seconds of a black screen with silence. You think something is about to pop up, but nothing does, and it creates a super great feeling of suspense. Overall, this movie was fun to watch, and it didn’t feel too drawn out. I would recommend this movie to all horror/found footage fans. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go watch it now!
