Godzilla (2014)
Godzilla (2014)
Kind of disappointing, but certainly better on the rewatch. I don't really care for the plot at all, and I thought the addition of the MUTO’s was really stupid and completely took away from the main monster. I was really hyped for Godzilla destroying a city and terrorizing citizens, and all we got was Godzilla being looked up to as a hero for fighting some Cloverfield knock-off monsters. Check out the review for the original version right here for more comparisons between this one and the 1954 version. I will say that the action sequences were really fun to watch, but I definitely wanted to see more than they gave us. The music is definitely worth noting though, and I enjoyed the score very much. The sound effects were also really good and intense in several scenes. In terms of editing and animation, this movie was pretty well done, and it had several insanely memorable shots in it that were pretty cool. Unfortunately, the presence of Godzilla isn't always there, and it feels for like a MUTO centric movie. But hey, Godzilla still looks really cool. Overall, it's not as fun as I would want it, and I wouldn't get any high expectations.
