Kong: Skull Island (2017)
Kong: Skull Island
Definitely an upgrade since watching Godzilla (2014), I enjoyed this movie so much better, just because the plot was much better, and I really enjoyed the characters. This one was pretty close to being just a remake of the original King Kong, with a few added things. The music wasn’t super impressive or memorable, and I really didn’t care for Samuel L. Jackson’s character, but overall it was an impressive movie. I do wish that they could’ve added the infamous “Kong on the skyscraper” scene, but the whole movie didn’t leave the island for most of the film. I think they did a great job with both the opening scene and the ending, and it wrapped up nicely. I also liked how they made Kong almost compassionate, and I actually started to feel really bad for him throughout the movie. It was a nice little touch to the character. This one also gets an extra point or two for the mention of Benny Goodman and the use of Vera Lynn’s “We’ll Meet Again”. Also, a pretty hype post credit scene for those who watch through. This film is officially Berry Approved, so go check it out now!
