Jailhouse Rock (1957)
Jailhouse Rock
Often considered one of Elvis’s best movies, Jailhouse Rock is definitely a classic in terms of music and acting. I loved Elvis’s character in this one, and he is able to show his emotions pretty well in most of his scenes. I particularly enjoyed his character because of the way he was able to deliver serious lines, but almost in a snarky/comedic way. With this one being one of his earlier movies, his career was still getting off the ground, and the movie’s story portrays that really well. The entire story was really good, and it’s not one that you normally see. The movie does start off a little slow to me, and throughout the entirety of it, it was slow paced and not super exciting, despite having a great story. The music was pretty good, and of course I can’t leave out the mention of the Jailhouse Rock dance sequence. I would definitely say that the Jailhouse Rock scene was one of the better dance/song sequences that we’ve seen. I don’t think I would necessarily watch this one again, but I would probably recommend it to music lovers.
