THIS. IS. SPARTA. Coming in as the 24th perfect movie in Berry history, this movie absolutely blew me away. There is a reason Zack Snyder is my favorite director. I mean, seriously. My gosh. This movie is phenomenal. I don’t understand why I waited so long to watch it, but mostly because I didn’t feel like renting it on YouTube, which is what I ended up doing. But man, I’m glad I did. The story was pretty well written, and it’s not at all what I expected it to be. The main direction of the plot was close to what I was thinking, but everything else was unique and new. Every second of it kept my attention. It was almost impossible to look away. I would definitely say this is one of the most visually stunning movies I’ve ever seen in my entire life. I physically cannot type my reasons, because it’s something you just have to see for yourself. The color grading and saturation is so beautiful yet gritty, and the shadows and light contrast each other so perfectly. The cinematography is some of the best I’ve seen in a 2000’s movie, as each shot could’ve been a picture on the wall. I also love the Snyder Slo-Mo. This movie is easily the best example of Snyder’s use of slo-mo, which is what makes the movie so great. The acting was phenomenal as well. Gerard Butler IS Leonidas, and he’s quickly become one of my favorite movie characters ever. Plus, the physical training all the Spartans went through really paid off. The music was also great, with some fantasy/rock sounds. Gosh, I can’t even explain how awesome this movie is. Overall, it’s literally perfect, and I’d HIGHLY recommend it to all fantasy/action fans. This film is Berry Approved, so go watch it now! FEELING VERY ZACKTIVATED!
