Creed II

• This was definitely a bit of a step down from the first Creed, although that doesn’t mean this is a bad movie. It just felt like a duplicate of Rocky III and IV, so it wasn’t a very original feel. As far as the story goes, it follows the same path that those movies took, which made the movie slightly boring, cause you’ve seen it all before. However, it was still really nice to see the return of Ivan Drago, and of course, his son. I’ve always wondered what ever happened to Drago after the events of Rocky IV, so this movie wraps all that up nicely. It was also very nice to see Rocky return, although the movie doesn’t do a great job of explaining his character after the previous movie. I also don’t think Adonis was written as well as I wanted, as it felt like it was too much of a parallel of the original Rockys. Although all the characters were great, I just think their stories could’ve been told a little better. But the ending was extremely good, and it gives you some closure from all the events of the first two movies. All the fight scenes, much like the first movie, felt rushed and (almost) sloppy. But they were still very exciting. The music, also like the first, had an old Rocky feel, but still being original and having a modern sound. I really liked how the intro to “Gonna Fly Now” was played in the final match, even though it didn’t continue with the song. Overall, the movie was good, though several things could’ve been changed for the better. I would still recommend it, even though the first one was much better.
